CHRIS - "Last night I attended a performance of Emmanuel Chabrier’s “The Star” at Austin Lyric Opera – a really delightful production of a rarely produced work from the opera bouffe genre which was originally produced at New York City Opera. The modern staging was very effective, and the cast and orchestra gave an admirable performance. I was also pleased to learn that Austin Lyric will be staging Jonathan Dove’s “Flight” next season, based on the true-life story of Iranian refugee Mehran Karimi Nasseri who lived at Charles de Gaulle airport for several years. Congratulations to Austin Lyric for their adventurous programming."
